degree: an academic title given by a college or university to a student who has completed a course of study: 学位由培训中心或培训中心授予完成学业的学生的学术称号这个词在ielts考试中考过两次，一次在v30的section 4，讲到娱乐治疗师应当具有master’s degree(硕士学位)，另一次是在v37的section 2，讲到健身俱乐部的教练至少要有一定的degree(学位)，这两个version都要求填写degree这个词。在国外，从事专业性的、技术性的工作，都必须具备一定的qualification(资格)，而获得某种学位(degree)则是资格的其中条件之一。
此外，大多数行业的从业者必须进行某种形式的考核获得执照(licence)后成为professional的从业者才能从事相应的技术工作。许多的法律规定，没有执照的从业者从业是违法的。下面列举了一些常见的学位。

(1) a document certifying that a person may officially practice in certain professions. 执照，证明某人可正式从事某行业的文件;
(2) a document testifying to the truth of something:证(明)书，证明事物真实性的文件，如a certificate of birth，出生证明;postdoctoral certificate,博士后证书目前这个词考过两次，一次是v26的section 1;另一次是v37的section 2。与degree不同的是，由于该词的拼写较为复杂，因此其考点只出现在选择题中，但是考生应该记住它的拼写。在degree的解释中说过，在西方，从事专业技术工作必须要有相应的职业资格证书，例如从事幼儿园的工作，必须要有certificate of child care。
