CNN、BBC外媒对天津爆炸时间英文报导

阅读同一事件的不同报道，是英语学习的一个非常好的方法。为方便起见，采用如下缩写代表不同媒体。本文中的干货太多，今天不再推送更多内容。

先看四家标题：

B: China Blasts:Causualties in Tianjin port city explosions

T: Massive Explosions Rock Chinese City

C: Explosion rocks China's Tianjin; 17 killed

G: Explosions in Chinese city of Tianjin kill at least 17 and injure hundreds

伤亡总是能引起人兴趣的，所以三家媒体都采用伤亡字眼。学会rock用法。

开篇句：

B: Massive explosions have hit China's northern city of Tianjin, leaving at least 17 people dead and hundreds more injured.

G: Hundreds of people have been injured and at least 17 killed after a series of devastating blasts sent a fireball hundreds of metres into the air at an industrial port in northern China.

C: A series of explosions shook the northern Chinese city of Tianjin late Wednesday, killing 17 people and injuring more than 300, according to officials and state media.

T: Two huge explosions rocked the Chinese port city of Tianjin, killing at least 17 people and injuring hundreds of others, officials said Thursday.

全都介绍了死伤人数，但是在介绍的时候，采用的表达不同。BBC采用leaving…dead and ….more injured这个结构，而CNN和Time则直接采用killing…and injuring…这个结构。

在介绍爆炸事件地点的时候：

B：State media said the blasts happened in a warehouse storing "dangerous and chemical goods" in the port area of the city.

G: A shipment of“dangerous goods” in a warehouse went up in flames shortly before midnight local time (1600 GMT), state media reported, causing explosions so strong that they shook homes on the other side of the city and sent flaming debris arching over nearby high-rise buildings.

C: The initial explosion erupted at a warehouse for a logistics company at a port area,according to Tianjin police. The company was identified as Tianjin Dongjiang Port Rui Hai International Logistics Co. Ltd.

T：The blasts occurred around 11:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday in an industrial area of the city, according to the South China Morning Post, and sent up massive fireballs that could be seen from miles away.

在谈到医院紧急救助情况的时候，每个媒体采用的表达也是很多元的。

B：Hospitals are reported to be overwhelmed with casualties and are clearly struggling to cope with this huge influx of casualties.

G：Hundreds of injured people crowded into hospitals, arriving on foot and by car after emergency services were overwhelmed.

C：没报道。

T：Hundreds of people were hospitalized, with new patients streaming in, China Xinhua News reported.

上文中的influx、overwhelm、crowd into以及stream in都是值得学习的表达。

在谈到死伤情况时：

B：CCTV said four firefighters were among the dead and that more than 400 people had been injured, at least 32 of them critically.

G：Over 280 people were admitted to hospitals, and 32 were seriously injured, state television reported. Hundreds had sought treatment for injuries, while uninjured citizens lined up to donate blood.

C：The People's Daily and CCTV, China's state-owned broadcaster, reported that 17 people were killed. CCTV and Xinhua said that more than 400 people were injured, while the People's Daily said some 315 were hurt, 32 of them critically.

T：The Associated Press reported that at least 300 people were injured.

表示伤情严重，主要用两个词：seriously和critically。注意32 of them critically这种省略，很多中国人是不留意的，然后就可能导致自己把意思还原回去的时候，写出来的英文会比较罗嗦。

在谈到爆炸强度的时候：

B：The China Earthquake Networks Centre said the magnitude of the first explosion was the equivalent of detonating three tons of TNT, while the second was the equivalent of 21 tons of the explosive.

G：The first blast was equal in strength to the detonation of three tons of TNT, while the second was the equivalent of 21 tons of the explosive, said the China Earthquake Networks Centre.

C：没描写。

T：The National Earthquake Bureau reported two large blasts before midnight, the first with the force of 3 tons of dynamite, the second with the power of 21 tons.

同样的意思，几家媒体采用的表达是不同的。BBC是the magnitude was the equivalent of detonating…The Guardian是be equal in strength to the detonation of…而Time则是with the force/power of…

其中The Guardian还追加了一句：

The US Geological Survey registered a series of seismological actions at a station in Beijing,which is more than 160km from the blast. USGS geophysicist John Bellini said that the equipment often picks up mining blasts, but it is rare to detect seismological activity from surface events like the explosion in Tianjin.
